Four English Counties
The ‘Four Counties Ring‘, as the name suggests travels through four English counties. Cheshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Shropshire. Travelling along the Trent & Mersey, Staffs & Worcester, Shropshire Union canals, and meeting up again on the Trent & Mersey canal. You have a choice of which way round you explore this ring! From Heritage Marina travel down the Macclesfield Canal to meet up with the Trent and Mersey at Hardings Wood Junction. At this point you will need to decide either to go south east or west, through the Harecastle Tunnel or down the Cheshire Flight known as ‘Heartbreak Hill’.
Either route will of course take one through some very picturesque country towns as Middlewhich, Audlem, Market Drayton Brewood, Great Haywood and Stone to name a few! This route is not designed those wanting a quiet week although is still very achievable with an enthusiastic crew. It is a more relaxed route if you allow 10 days or great over 2 weeks, to give you a chance to moor up and explore!
